Sri Lankan students achieve success in the Intel - International Science and Engineering Program

Intel International Science and Engineering Program is the largest school scientific research completion in the world. The objective of this program is to develop new invention skills of the students throughout the world.

Rakitha Dilshan Malewana, Namal Udara Piyasiri and Nipun Kavishka De Silva participated in this competition representing Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan students were able to secure the following awards.


Main Awards -

1. Engineering, Electric and Mechanical section
Second place – award worth of $500
Namal Udara Piyasiri – Thambuththegama Central College, Anuradhapura –
“Machines for intense preparing land for paddy cultivation”

2. Computer Science section
Fourth place – award worth of $500
Nipun Kavishka De Silva – De Mazened College, Kandana –
“Sport item with artificial intelligence for the blind”

1. Especial award worth of $1000 presented by American Law Society of Intellectual Property
Namal Udara Piyasiri – Thambuththegama Central College, Anuradhapura –
“Machines for intense preparing land for paddy cultivation”

2. Especial award worth of $10000 presented by United State International Development Agency

Namal Udara Piyasiri – Thambuththegama Central College, Anuradhapura –
“Machines for intense preparing land for paddy cultivation”

These students met His Excellency the President today (19.05.2014)

Intel Sri Lanka Institution provided full sponsorship for this competition and the Dialog Institution offered awards for the winners.
