Special appreciation from the minister of education for the students who obtained gold awards at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards 2016
The gold award was presented to the creation “Smart Walking Stick” submitted as a group project to the Asia Pacific ICT Awards 2016 representing Sri Lanka by Gagindu Kavinda Bandara and Kavindra Gimhan Wijayawardana of St. Anthony’s College, Kandy and a function was held to appreciate them at the ministry of education under the patronage of The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam yesterday (01). For this competition about 48 creations had been submitted from 16 countries and this creation was selected as the best among them.
The students who became the best performers of the section of “Young Computer Scientist-YCS” that was facilitated by the Forum of Information Technology Industries, Sri Lanka (FITIS) at the National Level School Information and Communication Technology Champions Competitions conducted annually jointly by the Information and Communication Technology Branch of the ministry of education, Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) and the Forum of Information Technology Industries, Sri Lanka (FITIS) were selected to participate in the Asia Pacific ICT Awards-2016 (APICTA).
In addition to the award winning creation submitted by Gagindu Kavinda Bandara and Kavindra Gimhan Wijayawardana of St. Anthony’s College, Kandy, the “Vocus the Robot” project submitted by Nilan Dilhara Meegoda a student of Maliyadewa College Kurunegala and the “Arduino CNC Plotter” project submitted by Subash Anton Kavinda Thisera, Shaveen Malintha Fernando, Yuju Mashuda and Sugumaran Abilash the students of the Gate Way College, Negombo was also submitted representing Sri Lanka to the Asia Pacific ICT Awards-2016 competition which was held from 2016-12-02 to 2016-12-05 in the city of Taipei of Thaivan.
