It has been revealed at the preliminary police investigations that the several questions extracted from the second part of the Chemistry paper this time and included in a handout distributed by a person said to be a tuition master in Gampaha area, have been released during the examination is in progress. Accordingly it is very clear that the reports published saying that the same question paper has been released before the examination is totally untrue. The Commissioner General of Examinations Mr. W.M.N.J. Pushpakumara says that it is not necessary to be skeptical about the credibility of the question paper.
It is reported that in the morning of the examination day after starting the examination few questions in the question paper had been obtained through a person in the examination hall.

After that with the coordination of some other persons the handout had been prepared inserting the questions extracted from the paper and printed it while the examination was still being conducted. This has been revealed from the preliminary police investigations done so far. The police have taken into custody the father and a brother of the person said to be a tuition master involved in this fraud.
Expressing his ideas regarding this, The Minister of Education AkilaViraj Kariyawasam said that he condemn with disgust the behavior of such persons who do this kind of low deeds with narrow selfish intentions and disturb the children as well as the Department of Examinations. The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam further stated that it is a sad situation of occurring this type of incidents when the Department of Examination is working hard to create a faithfulness in the society about the examinations while following the protective methods of holding examinations and avoiding the leak of question papers and examination frauds that happened in the past.
Furthermore the minister inquired about the progress of the police investigations regarding this incident and instructed the police to enforce the law strictly against the people who involved in this fraud without considering any status of them. The Department of Examinations has also started an internal investigation regarding this incident.
