Another special program of school cricket promotional task is started

-The Minister of Education says that the duty of political leadership is to hand over the responsibilities to the experts in the relevant field and to provide necessary assistance for implementing those tasks successfully.

The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that the steps were taken to prepare and implement a special program for the promotion of school cricket with the aim of developing up to national level the skills of school children throughout the country who have the abilities and talents for the game of cricket.  

The minister stated this today (10) while participating in the cricket skills development training program held at the auditorium of the Ministry of Education organized for the school cricket coaches and school cricketers.  

cri2The Minister of Education further said that since the duty of political leadership is to hand over the responsibilities to the experts in the relevant field and to provide necessary assistance for implementing those tasks successfully, the expertise was obtained to prepare and implement a suitable program for the promotion of school cricket. And also he expressed his gratitude to them for the voluntary representation for the task. 

This program had been organized according to the guidance of The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam considering the suggestions submitted in the National School Cricket Promotional Plan 2018 – 2020 prepared by the committee that comprised of experienced cricketers, cricket coaches and instructors, officials of the Sri Lanka School Cricket Association and the officers of the Ministry of Education.  

At this occasion the lectures and discussions were held by Mr. Sidath Wettamuni on ‘the art of batting from school matches up to first rank matches’, Mr. Mahela Jayawardana on ‘development of young cricketers’ and Mr. Ruchira Palliyaguru on ‘honesty, discipline and leadership of cricket’. In addition to this, Mr. Jayantha Senevirathna expressed his ideas on ‘experiences of school cricket training’ and the Sri Lanka School Cricket Association explained the future of school cricket at this program. 

The officers of the ministry including The Secretary of Education Mr. Sunil Hettiarachchi and a group of representatives from Sri Lanka School Cricket Association had joined in this occasion.
