Hereafter all students are protected disregarding the way they lose their parents

su eUnder the Suraksha insurance program that has been introduced freely by the government for the protection of all school children in Sri Lanka the students receive a protection benefit of two hundred thousand rupees in the event of a death of their father or mother. So far that protection benefit was paid only in the event of a natural death of their father or mother.
The Ministry of Education has made arrangements to provide a financial benefit of two hundred thousand rupees to the students encouraging them to pursue with their educational activities when their parents die in any circumstances.


Accordingly, starting from 01.12.2019 the Ministry of Education has taken steps to provide the benefit of two hundred thousand rupees in collaboration with the relevant insurance institution to the students who lose their father or mother under any circumstances (even if they are committed suicide).
Under this student insurance scheme implemented for the protection of health of children, the intention of the government is to give its benefits without any delay to all school children between the age limit of 5 – 21. The opportunity has been given to inform any delay or other problem in receiving Suraksha benefits to the School Health and Nutrition Branch of the Ministry of Education using its telephone numbers 0112784163, 0113641555 and 0112784872.
