Admission of National Diploma in Teaching course conducted by NCOE based on on (A/L) results in (2016/2017)
According to the gazette issued 25-10-2019 applying online basics for the recruitment of pre -service trainees for National colleges of Education – 2018 based on the G.C.E(A/L) results of the year 2016 and 2017 is compulsory.
However it was informed that many candidates have difficulties to access the online system.
Therefore it is compulsory all candidates (who applied or not with the online system) to submit an application prepared according to the gazette notification on or before 15-02-2019 via registered post.
Ministry of Education will not bear any responsibility of the candidates who are unable to send application via registered post.

Benefits of ‘Suraksha” Insurance Increased
Approval was granted by the cabinet held recently to implement the ‘Suraksha’ insurance scheme for the year 2019.
Under the guidance of The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, the Ministry of Education has taken measures to include new proposals for 2018/19 in such a way that the students get more benefits while the government incur a minimum cost considering the last year experiences of providing ‘Suraksha’ insurance cover.

While greeting a very happy new year for all who work in different sections of the Ministry of Education, the Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam requested from them to perform their duties with a unanimous objective to
development the system of education without any party or colour discriminations.
The Minister expressed this today (01) in the morning while participating in the occasion of commencing the duties of the Ministry of Education.
The minister pointed out that the ministry of education must implement the policies and decisions that can yield the specific outcomes and he also emphasized that those things should be performed within a scheduled timeframe.

According to the results of G.C.E. (A/L) 2018 issued last Friday, it is obvious that the performances of the students following Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Bio-technology streams have increased when it compared with that of 2017.
In 2017, 44,269 students sat for the exam under the Bio-Science subject stream and out of that 25,178 students were qualified for university entrance. The percentage of it was 56.88%.

Thirty seven schools that are used as evaluation centers of the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination will be reopened on 06 th September for the third school term.
Thirty seven schools that are used as evaluation centers of the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination will be reopened on 06 th September for the third school term. All the other schools will be reopened on 03 rd September, 2018 for the third school term. Only the 37 schools which are used as evaluation centers of the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination will be completely closed from 23.08.2018 to 05.09.2018 and these schools are reopened for the third school term on Thursday 06 th September 2018. The third school term of all the schools except Muslim schools will be started on Monday 03 rd September 2018. The list of names of the schools which are mentioned in the annexure as evaluation centers can be downloaded from here.

The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that the steps were taken to prepare and implement a special program for the promotion of school cricket with the aim of developing up to national level the skills of school children throughout the country who have the abilities and talents for the game of cricket.
The minister stated this today (10) while participating in the cricket skills development training program held at the auditorium of the Ministry of Education organized for the school cricket coaches and school cricketers.

The Agreement related to Suraksha special fund was signed today (30). It was between the Secretary of Education Mr. Sunil Hettiarachchi and the chairman of Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Mr. Hemaka Amarasooriya. The benefits of Suraksha students insurance will be given to about four and half million students in national, provincial, international and private schools as well as to the lay and clergy students in Pirivenas.
The objective of Suraksha student insurance is to ensure the health security of the children in the country. When the parents and students face the economic difficulty of bearing the cost above two hundred thousand for illnesses and surgeries, this fund will be a strength and a relief for them.
