Dear Children,

Nearly forty three hundred thousand school children in this country spend their time at their homes due to the spread of COVID 19 pandemic throughout the world at present. With the aim of developing the mental strength, creativity and the ability of overcoming challenges within those children, the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Sri Lanka National Library has launched an island wide program of writing 10.000 books.

At present our beloved school children spend their time within their homes because of the unfortunate situation spreading all over the world. During this period they have to improve their knowledge through reading books. We invite those children who read books to do another activity. That is to write books. Let us take action to sharpen your inborn abilities during this calamity. Let’s start writing. After reopening the schools, you must get your books edited again by your teachers and send them to the Zonal Director or Directress through your principal. The Zonal Director must select the best books among them and send them to the Provincial Director of Education. The Provincial Director of Education will select the most suitable books and send them to the Ministry of Education. Accordingly the Ministry of Education will publish the best ten thousand books. It is expected that each school will submit at least one book. This will be held as a competition. You will be able to become child authors through this work. And also you will receive state honours.
